Resolving your walk tracking issues on Android
Feb 26, 2026

Battery Saver or Battery Optimisation can reduce GPS accuracy when recording a walking activity on Android in Biscuit.
Even if your phone isn’t in Battery Saver mode, your Android device may still restrict background GPS access for individual apps. If Biscuit is set to Optimised, distance tracking may pause, drift, or record inaccurately.
You may need to allow unrestricted battery usage for Biscuit before starting a walk.
Important: Android system updates can sometimes reset these settings, so you may need to check them again after an update.
How to disable Battery Optimisation for Biscuit
Android 12 and above
Long-press the Biscuit app icon
Tap the info (i) icon
Tap Battery
Select Unrestricted under battery usage
Android 11 and below
Long-press the Biscuit app icon
Tap the info (i) icon
Tap Battery
Tap Optimise Battery Usage
Change the dropdown from Apps Not Optimised to All
Find Biscuit and toggle it off
Please note: menu names may vary slightly depending on your device manufacturer (e.g. Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus) and Android version.
If GPS issues continue after changing this setting, ensure:
Location permission is set to Allow all the time
Location accuracy is enabled
You have a stable GPS signal before starting your walk
You are not using a third-party battery management app that may override Android settings
This keeps walk tracking accurate and ensures your distance and activity data are recorded correctly.
